Yanamino Community Guidelines

Last updated: 5 November 2026

Yanamino is for learning. People as young as 13 use it, often in groups run by teachers or friends. These rules keep it a good place to learn for all of them.

They're part of the Terms of Use.

Where these rules apply

Everywhere you share: every deck, lesson and quiz you share with a group or make public. That means titles, descriptions, cards, pages, questions, answers, pictures and recordings. They also apply to your publisher name, and to the names and descriptions of groups you run.

Public items reach people you don't know, so a few rules are stricter for them. Those rules say "public items".

Always fine

Not allowed

Sexual content

Nothing sexual, and no nudity. Words a learner needs are fine as plain vocabulary, but nothing meant to arouse or shock.

A child's safety

Nothing that sexualises a child, or puts a child at risk. There are no exceptions. We remove it at once and report it to the police.

If you come across anything like this, report it with "Sexual content involving a child, or a child in danger". Don't copy it, save it, or send it to anyone, us included.

Hate, bullying or harassment

Don't attack, threaten, mock or put down anyone, as a person or because of who they are: their background, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or anything like it. Don't make an item about a real person to embarrass them.

Violence

No graphic violence, no threats, and nothing that encourages anyone to hurt themselves or others.

Illegal content

Nothing that breaks the law, and nothing that helps someone break it.

Not suitable for 13-year-olds

Everything you share must be fine for anyone 13 or older. Nothing that makes drugs, alcohol or gambling look appealing, no gore, and nothing made only to shock.

Spam or ads

No advertising, no selling, no links that exist only to send people somewhere, and no misleading titles. Don't fill Yanamino with copies of the same item.

Only share what you made, or what you have permission to share. For language learning, that means:

FineNot without permission
Your own word lists and your own example sentencesSentences, dialogues or exercises copied from a textbook
Readings, meanings and notes in your own wordsScanned or photographed pages, or screenshots of a book or app
Your own recordings of your own voiceAudio from CDs, textbooks' recordings, other apps, videos, films, anime or songs
A list of common words on a topic, with your own explanationsDefinitions and example sentences copied from a dictionary, website or course
Material whose licence allows sharing, following its rulesOther people's shared decks, lessons or quizzes, from Yanamino or anywhere else
Song lyrics and subtitles

If someone reports your item for copyright and you do have permission, ask us to look again and say so.

Pictures of real people

Public items can't contain pictures of people who can be recognised: not your friends, not famous people, and not you. Use pictures of things, places and drawings instead.

In items you share only with your groups, only use a picture of someone, or a recording of their voice, if they agreed to it. For anyone under 15, a parent has to agree too.

Private details

Don't share anyone's personal details: a full name together with a school, town, age or address; a home address; a phone number; an email address; or a social media account. That includes your own, in public items. Public lessons can't link to an email address.

Playing fair

Pictures and recordings in public items

For now, public items are text only. When pictures and recordings are allowed:

How we check

What happens if something breaks the rules

Depending on how serious it is:

  1. Not made public. The item, or a change to it, doesn't go public. You see why, and you can fix it and try again.
  2. Paused, or out of Yanamino's search, while Yanamino looks at a report.
  3. Removed by Yanamino. It leaves Explore and every group and library. That's a strike for a year, and for 90 days a person at Yanamino looks at everything you make public first.
  4. No more sharing or making things public, after 3 strikes in a year.
  5. A suspended account. A new account with the same sign-in can't share or make things public for 2 years.

Anything that puts a child or someone's life at risk goes to the police.

Every time, the person who made the item gets the full reasons, and can tap Ask Us to Look Again once.

Reporting

Hide Items by This Maker takes a maker's items out of your own search and pickers. Nobody is told.
